Bristly sarsaparilla is an interesting, partly-woody plant of the coniferous forest region. It does well on thin, acid soils, often in rocky or sandy places. It is very tolerant of drought, and even if the plant turns brown and shrivels in hot dry weather, it will resprout the following year.
